Flexible throwing robot
and welding task

Small projects:

1) Horizontal throw/oblique throw with fiberglass throwing arm

2) Welding task: draw a circle using a laser pointer and the orange laser pointer holder

 

Before you get started with the projects, there are a few things you need to know.

Download the program from the Shape Robotics website shaperobotics.com

In this lesson, you will only work with one joint module (robotic arm).

Click the colored symbol on the dongle so that it matches the robotic arm.

You can choose between Simple, Full or Python programming versions. Here we are using Full.

Icons are dragged onto the desktop. Note that icons have the same color as the menu title.

Remember that the only way to undo an action is to press CTRL Z—there is no other undo button.

Note that the joint modules have different names, which are indicated on the arms, e.g. QUA or SQA. These are used during programming.

 

1) Horizontal throw/oblique throw with fiberglass throwing arm

You will need a fiberglass throwing arm, a holder for the fiberglass throwing arm, and a ping pong ball.

A bucket of sand can also be used to show the ball’s impact point.

2) Welding task: draw a circle using a laser pointer and the orange laser pointer holder

 Draw a random “almost” circle using the laser pointer. Draw on the floor with the robotic arm placed between two chairs.
