“Update mode” is a special mode that allows a module or Hub to be updated. It can be recognized by the flashing red and blue lights on the module. The steps to trigger Update Mode depend on the type of module you are updating:

Hub

  1. Make sure to press down on the Hub’s button.
  2. Connect the Hub to your PC, without releasing the button. If done correctly, it should connect and start flashing in red and blue.
  3. Update mode is now active and you can release the button and proceed with the firmware update.

Joint

  1. Connect the Joint module to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Press the button, while simultaneously sliding the power switch on the back of the Joint module. If done correctly the Joint Module will start flashing in red and blue.
  3. Update mode is now active and you can proceed with the firmware update.

Spin

  1. Connect the Spin module to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Make sure the Spin is turned on, i.e. make sure that you can change the color channel by pressing on the button. If the module is turned off, press the button to turn it on.
  3. Press and hold the button that changes the color channel and keep holding.
  4. The module will turn off, indicated by the light on it slowly starting to dim. Keep pressing. If done correctly the Joint Module will start flashing in red and blue.
  5. Update mode is now active and you can proceed with the firmware update.

Set device to update mode
